The editors of America Magazine, which include the notable Jesuit author Fr. James Martin, have weighed in on Uganda’s deadly anti-LGBT law in an editorial, titled “When the Law Is a Crime”, denouncing criminalizing the LGBT community.
The White House had invited Rev. Louie Giglio, an Evangelical pastor of the Passion City Church, in Atlanta, to lead the benediction at President Obama’s inauguration. However, once Rev. Louis Giglio’s past anti-gay sermon surfaced, the White House has decided that he is not the right person to be praying for a blessing on the people of the United States.
Spirit Day isn’t until this Friday, but many churches used their weekend worship to kick off Ally Week, leading up to Spirit Day. Last Sunday, GLAAD challenged participants to ask their place of worship to go purple. So far, over 50 religious organizations and congregations have signed on to participate in Spirit Day, and many got the ball rolling over the weekend.
