Timeline: A Look Back at the History of Transgender Visibility

The final day of Transgender Awareness Week is the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of those whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. GLAAD Examines Ten Years of Transgender Images on Television; More than Half Were Negative or Defamatory

GLAAD's new study of transgender images on television in the past ten years revealed that nearly half of all catalogued episodes contained negative messages and stereotypes. Additionally, transgender characters were cast as victims or villains more often than not, while anti-trans language found to be present in at least half of all episodes.
