Decorating Your Home In A Budget

Sometimes, we feel like improving a few things currently decorating our lovely home. When we figure out how much it takes, however, the renovations we want typically become very difficult to finance.

For example, if you hire a professional to install new flooring, they will charge you $8.50 per square foot. This translates into $1,275 for a single 150-square-foot room. That’s a lot of money for a small space – but the truth is that you can do these tasks yourself with the right guidance.

We are aware that you might want to change a few things in your house every once in a while. If you are a fan of home decoration shows, it’s easy to get inspired by new ideas. We are home advisors because we love these things as much as you do. Therefore, we wanted to give you more useful ideas to consider without having to spend a thousand dollars or more for just one room.

First, experiment with rearranging the furniture and soft furnishings like your window blinds. It is amazing how different a room can look once you move a few fixtures around. This is one of our favorite techniques because it does not require much of your time or resources. All you need to do is figure out a way to move your furniture safely.

Sometimes, you might have too much in one room. Clearing out the unnecessary items will give your room the refreshing feel you are looking for. You also might want to rearrange a room by working around a coffee table instead of the mantlepiece. Whatever you choose to do, remember that each item in your room has its place.

Limit your redecoration to one room at a time. Taking your time like this will help you figure out what works for you without getting overwhelmed. If you don’t like the change you have made, you can always move everything back to their previous places and start from the beginning at your own pace.

Second, try to paint the interiors yourself. There are many DIY projects you can take up, many of which give your house a whole new look and feel. Painting the interiors is by far one of our favorite things to do. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be an expert to paint your house. The one thing you should know before you start is the color scheme you want.

A professional can charge about $1,685 for painting an entire home. However, if you take on the task yourself, you will only spend about $400 for the paint – that’s it! For us, painting is one of the most relaxing tasks that you can do when it comes to home makeovers. When you see how much your room has changed, you will be amazed!

You can even be more daring and try to use wallpapers. This is an especially alluring option if you have kids! Ask them to join you by choosing a wallpaper that they love. Once you have the design, you can find a color scheme that match the wallpaper. In a few short hours, the little ones of the house will have a unique room all to themselves!

Last but not least, you can shop second-hand. You might need a new piece of furniture, or you might realize that a vase is all that’s required to tie the room together. Regardless of the situation, you should be able to find these pieces in second-hand stores or garage sales. You can find the unexpected in these places! Vintage decor is popular among home decorators, as well as antique collectors, so if you find something you like, be sure to buy it before someone else does.

There is a deep-seated belief among consumers that second-hand shops are not good quality. However, we believe that it is the complete opposite, especially when you are open-minded about restoration work. When you buy something from a second-hand shop, you just need to look closely until you find a piece that you love. If a wooden chair could use a little TLC, grab some varnish and transform it into something of retail quality !

Decorating your home while bound to a budget is easier than you think. We dare you to think outside the box and make your house feel brand new by following our advice and using new techniques.
