The Bamboo Plant is often known as the Lucky Bamboo. This plant is called Dracena Sandrenia, scientifically and this name of Bamboo Plant was given to it after the name of an English-German gardener- Henry Frederick Conrad Sander. Apart from this, Lucky Bamboo has a whole range of names like- Curly Bamboo, Chinese Water Bamboo, Friendship Bamboo, Goddess of Mercy Plant, Belgian Evergreen, and Ribbon Plant.

Fun Fact- Lucky Bamboo is not an actual Bamboo; in fact, it belongs to the same family as Lilies.

Care of Bamboo Plant-

As told earlier, Bamboo Plants can be grown in both soil and water. This pretty looking plant can grow up to 2-3 feet if taken care properly. So, let us look one by one at the care tips.

Lucky Bamboo in Water-

  1. Fill the bottom of the container or the vase with pebbles and pour water. Make sure that the water quantity is more than the pebble (maybe 1-2 centimetre above that). Also, ensure that the roots of the plants are submerged in water, properly.
  2. Another essential step to consider is that- change the water of the plant every week or once in two weeks. This helps in preventing the plant roots from getting rotten and also, gives you the chance to clean the container or the vase of this pretty green gem.

Lucky Bamboo in Soil-

  1. The key of a good growing plant lies in well-aerated potting soil with a good drainage and Bamboo Plant is no exception. So, make sure that you pot your Bamboo Plant in a well-drained pot as badly drained pots may lead to rotted roots due to overwatering.
  2. Another key point that goes with every green plant is that- do not overwater the plant, maintain a fair gap between watering to avoid waterlogging and spoilt roots.
