Today, the Movement Advancement Project (MAP), the Family Equality Council, and the Center for American Progress, in partnership with the National Association of Social Workers, the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, and COLAGE, released a comprehensive report on the hardships faced by children of LGBT parents in the United States.
Joining the ranks of marriage equality supporters is a grassroots organization called Andrew’s Round Table, formed this year by the parents of Corporal Andrew Wilfahrt, a 31-year-old gay soldier who was killed in Afghanistan in February.
Spirit Day was celebrated October 20, and on that day, we saw numerous businesses, celebrities, denominations, and even the White House go purple to show support for LGBT youth and safe schools. However, many worshipping communities held their commemoration until they gathered for weekend services. Now that “Spirit Weekend” is over, we offer you a couple of examples of what congregations did to address bullying in worship.
